I really love cooking and I would consider myself a pretty good home cook. But, I really struggle with baking. I am not very patient nor do I love precision. I think that is what draws me to cooking, I can add a pinch of this and a little of that to a recipe and it still turns out. Cooking gives you flexibility to mess up, improvise, fix it and the end result can still be delicious. Baking on the other hand, in my experience, does not offer that type of flexibility. You have to make sure your measurements, temperature and timing is correct, otherwise you may ruin hours of hard work!
To challenge myself I thought why not learn how to bake bread from scratch. I purchased the book ‘Bread Baking for Beginners’ and have decided that each weekend I will try to bake a new bread from scratch.
Stay tuned to see how it goes…
